Adam Frelin
Lead Artist
Adam explores multiple strategies for how to insert emblematic additions into outdoor locations and public places. Landscapes and cityscapes are the stage where they are set, often taking place at points where our natural and constructed worlds intersect. While the sites he works in vary widely, his aim is to create artworks that complement a place, while also expanding its meaning. Thinking of his additions as unexpected offerings, his choice to make artwork for outdoor locations and public places comes from a belief that art should be a part of our shared world. Adam has shown widely across the nation and has received numerous awards and residencies both here and abroad. He has published two books of photography and has had several artworks commissioned throughout the world. Frelin received a BFA from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and an MFA from University of California, San Diego. Currently he is an Associate Professor of art at the SUNY University at Albany, and lives in Troy, NY. www.adamfrelin.com
