Historic Albany Foundation is seeking original artwork inspired by the architecture of Albany, Schenectady and Troy. The deadline for submissions is Friday, September 23rd at 5:00pm. This year, the opportunity has been extended to include entries inspired by all three Breathing Lights’ cities, Albany, Schenectady and Troy. Visit BUILT submission website for details and instructions.
BUILT: Architecture through Artists’ Eyes art exhibit & silent auction will take place on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the New York State Museum. A portion of the proceeds from the reception and art sales will benefit the Foundation’s programming and technical services.
BUILT promotes awareness of Albany’s built environment and raises funds for preservation efforts. For the past 12 years they’ve used their annual art exhibit and silent auction to highlight the issue of vacant buildings. With BUILT, we extend this artistic lens not just on vacant architecture but onto Albany’s entire BUILT environment.
New this year, Historic Albany Foundation is partnering with Breathing Lights. In line with this partnership, the Call for Art has been EXTENDED to include Schenectady and Troy, in addition to Albany. All submitted work should speak to the buildings of the past, present & future of Albany, Schenectady and Troy. A cash prize of $150 will be awarded by Breathing Lights to support the creative re-envisioning of our cities’ vacant, historic architecture by a regional artist.
